Woody Allen narrates his childhood, linking together a series of mostly unrelated stories with the theme of radio. This screenplay for this film is amazing! It’s truly incredible how Woody Allen was able to make a so many episodes feel like one cohesive story. It’s funny, poignant and oozing with nostalgia. If you are a Woody Allen fan this is absolutely required viewing. For all you normal people out there, I’d say this is a very high worth checking out.

I didn’t love it quite as much as you did, but I think your review gets to the heart of the matter: somehow Woody Allen is able to create a script that has no overarching story but still feels compelling. The loose structure works somehow. I think that maybe there is no other screenwriter who can pull that off. Anyway I love when hitman Danny Aiello is harangued by his mother, and the part when Mia Farrow practices saying “Hark!” with her Brooklyn accent. Funny stuff.

(Also I recognized that shot of dianne weist sitting on the porch, which gave me an unreasonable amount of satisfaction.)
