The Constant Gardener by Thomas

An anti-hero bureaucrat (and amateur gardener) tries to unravel the mystery behind his wife’s murder.  The story is slow and muddled, told mostly in flashbacks.  Powerless, Ralph Fiennes wears an expression of suffering and vague bemusement as he recalls/uncovers crucial pieces of the conspiracy.  You will find yourself feeling the same way!  Why? Because the movie is set in the slums of Nairobi. Basically this is a Third World thriller that wants to disturb rather than to thrill; the film is artful and cerebral, but ultimately who cares about that when there’s so much poverty out there? Watchable.
