The Browning Version (1951) by Thomas

A stuffy teacher at a stuffy British boarding school admits that he’s a failure — which becomes his first step to redemption.  This is beautiful stuff. I kept expecting it to get boring, but the pacing is just right.  Like The Artist, the plot and characters are very limited, and more or less obvious from the start — but the movie is great because it just unfolds naturally.  Also, Michael Redgrave (Vanessa Redgrave’s dad) is amazing as the teacher consumed by self-loathing.  Worth watching.
