Danny Boyle directs Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz in a story about the most potent aphrodisiac: violence. There are so many potentially great elements in this movie, the police-force-like league of angels, McGregor’s dumb idea for a “trash novel,” Stanley Tucci’s sleazy, but strangely honest character, the insinuation that robots are replacing menial laborers. Still, all of these elements only get as far as being introduced and then, just when something interesting starts happening with them, the scene ends and we move on to the next plot point and the next gag. Watchable.

An interesting side note: Three of the main actors from the previous year’s “Big Night” (Also reviewed on this site) Ian Holm, Stanley Tucci and Tony Shalhoub are in this movie, though never in the same scene.
