Psychadelic avant-garde film maker Alejandro Jodorowsky stars in this documentary about his now legendary 1970’s adaptation of Dune, which never got off the ground.  With Orson Welles, Salvador Dali, and other eccentric actors hired, storyboards by Moebius and designs by H.R. Giger, music by Pink Floyd, and special effects from Dan O’Bannon, (who went on to create Ridley Scott’s Alien) the movie promised to be a stunning, if disturbing, sci-fi experience.  This documentary talks about the production but also attempts to bring these elements to life, to cajole us into imagining what Jodorowsky had in mind.  Worth checking out.

I started reading Moebius and Jodorowsky’s graphic novel The Incal. Have you read it? Apparently Nicolas Winding Refn is going to make a movie version of it.

I’ll have to check that out. He’s also got a new movie, apparently, “The Dance of Reality”? It’s his first one in almost 25 years…Anyway, I don’t know if you saw Jodorowsky’s Dune, but Nicolas Winding Refn is in a good chunk of that too. Guess they’re best buds!
