Pinhole Movie Reviews

Ishtar by tincolor

Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty want to be the next Simon and Garfunkel, and what better place to do so than Morocco? This comedy about idiots traveling in a foreign land was for a long time impossible to find on any form of home media, relegated to intermittent afternoon broadcasts on Comedy Central. But despite its lack of availability, it has remained relatively well known because of its troubled production, huge budget and terrible reviews. While it’s no masterpiece, there’s nothing offensively bad about it, and there are even some parts that I really enjoyed. It’s like Hopscotch meets Spies Like Us. Despite its uneven pace, I give it a watchable plus.

Yes, I was pretty excited when they put this on Netflix! It’s just so ridiculous. And I’ve never watched it all the way through, thanks to the Comedy Central broadcasts that you mentioned.
