Pinhole Movie Reviews

U Turn by tincolor

Sean Penn is on his way to California to deliver a belated loan payment. But on the way his car breaks down in a small town in Arizona, inhabited by famous actors, each in various degrees of trouble, each preventing Sean Penn’s from getting on his way. Even though some of the characters are incredibly annoying, and the unjustness of Sean Penn’s situation drove me crazy, I didn’t hate the film for some reason, I guess I kinda liked it, actually.Watchable.

Once Upon a Time in America by tincolor

Robert De Niro, James Woods and a very young Jennifer Connelly star in this epic crime drama about hoodlums in Brooklyn. Sergio Leone’s final film takes place over nearly six decades, and let me tell you, its runtime is nearly as long clocking in at a nearly 4 hours of gangland fun. But the amazing thing is it doesn’t drag. The cinematography, set design and the acting are all top notch, there is no doubt this is a great film, but I’m not sure how recommendable it is. A leisurely paced thinking-man’s film. Worth checking out.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly by tincolor
The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly. Now here’s a movie! Its story and characters are so epic that by the time the movie is over you are almost sad it has all come to an end. Kind of the way I felt reading Anna Karenina. Required viewing.

A Few Dollars More by tincolor
A Few Dollars More. There’s a prominent psychological element to Sergio Leone’s films that you don’t often get in action movies. With every shot fired and every cowboy slain, if feels like you get a back story to justify the action. Worth Watching.

A Fistful of Dollars. There’s no doubting that The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is the best of the dollars trilogy, but A Fistful of Dollars is also quite good. There just isn’t quite enough character development to make it great. For that, watch Yojimbo, which this is a remake of. Kill! is also a much better movie that shares many similarities. Worth checking out.
