Compiled from recordings that Eleanor Coppola (Francis Ford’s wife) made during the making of Apocalypse Now!, this is a chaotic and heart wrenching documentary about the perfect storm of crap that plagued that production.  From the nefarious involvement of the Filipino military to Martin Sheen’s self-inflicted injuries to Marlon Brando’s untenable demands,  it’s hard to believe that Coppola didn’t go insane, let alone that he finished the movie! Worth checking out.

Matt Dillon is a 14 year old street punk who idolizes his older brother Mickey Rourke who has been out of town for a couple of months getting a heavy dose of crazy. Francis Ford Coppola has made a French New Wave-style film about teenage angst in Oklahoma. Oh yeah, and the experimental soundtrack is by the drummer from The Police. There is so much about this film that is rough and at times borderline silly, but somehow it all feels cohesive and very exciting. Worth checking out.

The Godfather by tincolor
Al Pacino and that Brando guy play cops and robbers for a bunch of hours. For a movie that is 40 years old, The Godfather doesn’t particularly feel like it’s 40 years old. But what was most surprising to me was just how young Al Pacino looks. Worth Watching.

Peggy Sue Got Married. Part Back to the Future, part American Graffiti. A simple love story that shows a surprising amount of depth. Worth watching.
